International workshop for conductors in Annecy

The European Creative Academy and the Peter Eötvös Foundation in cooperation with Ars Nova Ensemble are announcing a workshop for conductors. This workshop is part of the foundation's mentoring program.

Ensemble in Residence: Ensemble Ars Nova (France)

Age limit

Age limit is under 35.

Fee

Registration and tuition fees are fully covered by ECA for all participants.

Lodging, meals and travel costs are borne by participants.

Application deadline

Application deadline 12th June 2023.

The results will be announced no later than the 20th of June 2023.

Program for conductors

Léos Janacek: Mladi (17'30) for flute (piccolo), oboe, Bb clarinet and bass clarinet, bassoon, horn (IMC MUSIC CORPORATION)

Benjamin Britten: Movement (8') for flute, oboe, Bb clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon, horn (FABER MUSIC)

Peter Eötvös: Windsequenzen (29'), for flute (piccolo, alto), oboe (english horn), 2 clarinets, bass clarinet, tuba, double bass, accordion, percussion (bass drum) (EDITIO MUSICA BUDAPEST)

AND 3 new works by selected composers for the 2023 edition of ECA:

Sebastian Black, Lisa Heute, Tom Bierton

- 6 days of conducting masterclasses with Gregory Vajda (conductor, composer and Peter Eötvös Foundation's program director) on a selected repertoire

- Working with ensemble Ars Nova, an outstanding French music ensemble recognized for its commitment to new music and educational transmission

- Working with young emerging composers selected for this edition of ECA and conducting their new works

- Public concert at the end of the workshop

Selected conductors have to prepare all the scores, must attend all masterclasses and rehearsals and will conduct ensemble Ars Nova during the final concert on Saturday, August 19, 2023.

The new works written by the selected composers will be sent to the selected conductors between 20th-30th July 2023.
