“German and French Contemporary works – Pierre Boulez 90”
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Peter Eötvös Contemporary Music Foundation announces a master course for conductors and composers
between June 10th - 16th, 2015 in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut and Institut Francais Budapest.
This master course is suitable for advanced conducting students and professional conductors with special interest in contemporary music repertoire. Up to ten conductors will be accepted as “active” participants. Date of arrival for conductors: 10th June, departure date: 17th June.
Composers are welcome as passive participants, they can attend all rehearsals and discussions with the composer professors, score analyzing sessions of the pieces of the program and there will be also sessions to discuss the composer participants's own pieces with Prof. Manoury, Prof. Pintscher and Prof. Eötvös (on 14th, 15th, 16th June). Suggested date of arrival: 13th June (earlier arrival is possible). Departure date: 17th June
Other observers are also encouraged to apply and will be fully involved in the course.
The conducting sessions and the concert will be recorded with video and a short professional documentary film will be available online after the course.

Thorough and detailed knowledge of the works is a requirement of active participation.
Each participant must provide his/her own scores.

The course fee for the selected active conductors will be 420 €. (300 € to be paid after the selection procedure.) Partial attendance gives no right for fee reduction.
PARTICIPANTS
Admission: the call is open for conductors and composers of all nationalities.
Age limit for active conductors is 35 years, all other participants are accepted without age limit.
The master course will focus on a group of up to ten conductors, who will be selected on the first day of the course. They shall demonstrate that they have suitable knowledge and technique by presenting two pieces from the listed compositions (without orchestra).
Applicants must indicate on the application form which pieces (min.2) they prefer to work out in detail during the course.
A selected number of active conductors will conduct the concert, which will be given on June 16th, 2015 in the Concert Hall of the Budapest Music Center. There will be no right of appeal against the decision of the selection.
SCHOLARSHIPS
A limited number of scholarships are available, applicants should indicate their request on the application form and a recommendation letter must also be enclosed.
For the current master course Peter Eötvös Foundation offers scholarships for East-European applicants.
Furthermore special scholarships - supported by the German-French Cultural Fund 2015 - will be available for German, French and Polish applicants, their request will be managed by the Goethe-Institut and the Institut Francais in Budapest.
TRAVEL, ACCOMMODATION
The fee does not include travel, accommodation and meals.
The foundation offers accommodation in 2-bedded rooms with bathroom in the Budapest Music Center. Upon request, we can assist participants in finding private or hotel accommodation within walking distance of the venue. Room rates for 7 nights in Budapest Music Center: 210 €/person in double rooms. Other hotel or private flat offers are from approx. 70 €/night.
Meals (half-board: breakfast and lunch) are available in the restaurant of the Budapest Music Center upon request. Cost: 112 € for the entire week.
The course fee includes the extra programs: during the course all participants receive tickets for jazz concerts in the Opus Jazz Club in Budapest Music Center and they can take part in a public meeting with the composers as well as on a film screening.
DIPLOMAS AND CERTIFICATES
Active participants will receive diploma, observers will receive attendance certificate, signed by all professors.
